Secede – 2009
Most desks have a flat work surface with some sort of drawer or storage unit incorporated or near by. The concept in this piece was to separate the clutter and create surface offerings at different heights and spaces for specific items.
The underframe is simply a structure propping up the laminated surfaces and protrudes in one corner to act as a support for books. Two laminated trays are embedded into the work surface to replace the act of drawers; the result offering sufficient capacity for storage without the added clutter and weight associated with conventional filing solutions such as drawers.
